A Griggs Reservoir Wedding

A Griggs Reservoir Wedding, at The Ohio State University Boat house, is a perfect location for a bride and groom to be married. Below is the love story of a bride and groom and their experience married at The Griggs Reservoir.

Mark: It was a wonderful Friday evening

-and I had no idea that I would meet a lovely woman who would later become my faithful wife-ee. Beverly and I met at an event that she orchestrated at the Vineyard Church called “Spark”on May 25, 2018. It was the first time I would set eyes on Beverly. She began to share her vision for a very relaxed, spirit-filled atmosphere where we could stretch out on the floor if we wanted to – and just be present to share prophetic words as we worshiped Jesus together in song and communion. Beverly and I talked after the service and have talked every day since. We dated exclusively for 7 months. When I knew she was the one to be my forever wife, I found a elegant ring online at Ritani.com. The day it arrived, I wasted no time in picking the cutest spot in town to propose to her: Basi Italia. In front of a romantic candle-lit dinner on December 12, 2018, Beverly said “Yes!”

From the Bride:

-At 6:30 p.m. Mark picked me up. His wonderful friend Otis was our driver for the evening. Otis played a music compilation that Mark created just for me. We went to Veritas downtown where Mark had reserved the Chef’s Table for the evening. It was an amazing display of flavor sensations to say the least! Mark and I soon discovered that there is a sixth love language and it is food. At the end of the evening, our waiter came to the table with a Tiffany blue bag on a platter and presented it to me. Mark immediately said, “it’s not an engagement ring – I promise. Please accept this gift from me.” It was a delicate gold ring with two small diamonds coming together, but not yet quite joined. He declared that he was in pursuit of me and only me. He wanted to move forward with intention and get to know everything about me. I was overwhelmed, but just knew that God was up to something good in our lives. The following day, I discovered that two dozen red roses had been delivered to my work after I had left the previous day. I felt lavished upon in a way that felt like the sweet kiss of Jesus.

Flash forward a few weeks,

June 13th to be exact. I woke up to find an envelope taped to my front door. I opened it and it was a beautiful Japanese silk- screen card of a tsunami. It was a birthday card from Mark with 55 beautiful words listed that described me. It was my 55th birthday! He then called and asked if I would be able to leave work a bit early because he was taking me some place special for the evening. I took the afternoon off and got a manicure and pedicure and waited with excited anticipation for the evening to come.

The rest is history! Mark is the more romantic of the two of us. He was and still is a breath of fresh air. We make each other laugh until our sides hurt. We have so much fun together. Mark is like your favorite pair of shoes. They feel so good when you put them on your feet. They don’t pinch, rub or hurt in any way. They look good and they feel good and you could just walk in them forever and you want to wear them wherever you go.

Beverly: As Mark mentioned above, we met at an event called “Spark”. I guess there was more than one kind of “spark” taking place on Friday, May 25th, 2018! We exchanged email information and I remember being surprised that Mark emailed me later that evening with the information that we discussed at the event. He invited me to join him at a Wild Love worship conference in South Carolina. Shortly after, we met at Panera to talk and as we stood in line Mark said “I want you to know that this is not a date. I do not take my dates to Panera for dinner”. We talked for four hours at the Grandview Panera that day. And I did go with him to the Wild Love conference. We had a great time and discovered that we travel well together!

Beverly: Our Griggs Reservoir Wedding was BEAUTIFUL!

Fall is my favorite time of the year and it was crisp and full of color on October 18th, 2019. My sweet mom was able to be there. My incredible brother walked me down the isle. My precious niece was there along with 80 others to celebrate our special day. My long time friend, Jim Hull, officiated the ceremony. My other long time friend, Rita Hook, was my wedding planner. She is phenomenal, by the way. Our commitment to each other was the second time around for each of us. We both know the heartache of losing love. But we also now know the beauty of finding love again and we are thankful to our many friends and family for making it so meaningful and special. Our day was a true celebration of God’s goodness!

One of our greatest joys of the day

– was to have Mark’s three daughters play the music for our wedding song – Song of Solomon by Martin Smith. Mark’s friend Leo, who is an amazing musician, worked with the girls and helped them prepare. Mark’s daughter, Skylar, played percussion, Simone played keyboards and Cayla played the viola. We are so proud of them! My sweet god-daughter, Anna Lee, was our flower girl – so adorable. She was a great prelude to my entrance to our Griggs Reservoir Wedding.

One of the most meaningful parts of our wedding ceremony

During our Griggs Reservoir Wedding- we wanted to have some of our closest friends gather around us to pray a blessing over us and our new blended family. After Mark and I were pronounced husband and wife, we stopped to join arms with his daughters to walk down the isle as a united family. I’m still in awe of how much life has changed. I went from being single for over 20 years and working in the business world to being a wife, step-mom and household director – wow!

Mark: While Beverly and I were still dating

-and waiting in the lounge of The Pearl for a table one fine evening, we ran into the most attractive/energetic couple: Seth and Beth Kerechanin. We instantly connected with their glowing personalities. As it turned out, they let us know that they are wedding photographers. After Beverly and I got engaged, we looked up Seth and Beth and met back up with them again at The Pearl to plan the photography for our wedding. They added so much energy – not only to the planning process – but also during our wedding ceremony and throughout our reception. (We even included a photo of Beth in our album!)

Speaking of our album, Seth and Beth

-were able to have our custom wedding logo embossed on the front cover of our album. Seth and Beth’s talents really shined with their creative outdoor night shots. They incorporated a very creative back-lighting technique which turned out absolutely spectacular! My favorite outside shot is one of Beverly and I outlined with just a sliver of silhouette as we embraced under a canopy of trees. We made that one image a full 2-page spread in our album. Beverly’s favorite is of us standing on a dock by the Scioto River. I have so many other favorites too, like the one of Beverly and I making our entrance into our reception as the new Mr. and Mrs. Mark & Beverly Edwards. The lighting in that shot is absolutely amazing. It looks so glamorous! Beverly and I feel that our joy-filled wedding day memories are masterfully captured in the most professional work of art that we’re able to share with friends and family and cherish for a lifetime.

From the Couple:

-we had the most amazing team of people to help us plan our wedding day. From Basi Italia, to meeting Seth and Beth at The Pearl, White of Dublin, the team at Metro Cuisine, Le Meridien, The Joseph – bridal suite. Whole Foods catering (rehearsal dinner), to Brandon and Katie Rohrig our videographers and I as I mentioned above, my wedding planner – Rita Hook, you all are true artisans, amazing people who were kind, understanding, creative and a pleasure to work with! You all helped us create the best of memories for our families to have and share in the years to come. Thank you!
