A Cleveland Arcade Proposal was the perfect next chapter for Gigi and Gabe, two seventh-grade sweethearts whose love story has already been years in the making.
Some love stories begin later in life. Others start when two people are still practically kids. For Gigi and Gabe, their story began all the way back in seventh grade. Years later, Gabe stood at the top of one of Cleveland’s most beautiful staircases, preparing to ask Gigi to spend the rest of her life with him.
From the beginning, their proposal was romantic, emotional, incredibly personal, and filled with the people they love most. Even better, Gigi had no idea what was waiting for her after breakfast.
A Cleveland Arcade Proposal Years in the Making
Before the big moment, Gigi and Gabe started their morning with breakfast at 1890 Restaurant inside Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade. With the restaurant connected to this iconic Cleveland landmark, they could enjoy their morning together before casually making their way toward the spot Gabe had carefully chosen.
Meanwhile, we were getting into position.
Gabe wanted to propose at the top of the grand staircase overlooking The Arcade. However, he did not choose the location simply because it was beautiful. He and Gigi both love Superman, and The Arcade’s connection to the Superman movies gave the location an extra layer of meaning for them.
Downstairs, another surprise was waiting.
Gabe’s family had gathered at the bottom of the staircase so they could quietly watch everything unfold. Somehow, Gigi walked out of breakfast without noticing us or realizing that family members were waiting below. Instead, she was completely focused on Gabe.
As they reached the spot he had chosen, Gabe began talking to the girl he had loved since seventh grade. Then, he got down on one knee.
The Sweetest Proposal Reaction
Gigi’s reaction was everything.
At first, the photographs show pure surprise on her face. However, they also reveal something even better: just how deeply these two love each other.
After Gabe proposed, Gigi was so overcome with excitement that the ring almost became an afterthought. Rather than immediately reaching for it, she wrapped her arms around Gabe. She thanked him, told him how much she loved him, and simply held onto him.
For a few seconds, there was a beautiful engagement ring waiting to be placed on her finger, yet Gigi only cared about Gabe.
Eventually, of course, the ring made it onto her hand!
Then came another wonderful part of the surprise. Gigi realized their family had been watching from below, ready to celebrate with them. Suddenly, this intimate moment between two people became a joyful family celebration.
