Maggie’s Dream Wedding Makeup

“When I started thinking about my bridal look, I took to Instagram for inspiration. I was looking for a more natural look – as I typically don’t use a ton of makeup – that would make my skin glow and appear “elevated” for the big day. I searched for images of women with green eyes and a similar skin tone and started to build pictures/inspiration posts that resonated with me. I also began my search for an artist in Columbus that featured women of all sizes, skin tones, and looks – which was a really fun way to search for my preferred partner for April 6, 2019.”

As for Maggie’s eye color, she wanted a color that would really make her green/blue eyes pop and make her long lashes shine! She really wanted her eyes to be the first thing people noticed about her makeup look so she went for a shimmery gold color to achieve her dream look! For her lip color she really wanted a natural color. She said, “I wanted my eyes to be the feature of my big day and wanted a timeless look to match my dress and venue.”

To achieve her dream makeup look, Maggie went with AlmazFaces by Yodit. We asked her why she chose her and what she loved about her experience. “This was an easy decision. Yodit is a self-made business woman. When I searched for my bridal team, I was eager to find female-led business owners who were passionate about their craft(s). The majority of my vendors (I like to refer to them as my team) were self-starters, women and just really beautiful souls. Yodit was just that. From the moment I first exchanged emails with her, I could tell she was a wonderful human being who truly enjoyed making women – all women – shine. I cannot recommend her more; she’s truly one of a kind and wicked talented.”

Maggie’s favorite part of her look was…everything! She felt like her hair, makeup, and dress all worked together and made a beautiful timeless look. “It was the very best day, and I felt like my very best self. Can’t ask for more than that!”

Miranda’s Winter Wedding Look

“My inspiration for the entire wedding was winter (NOT Christmas lol). Winter greens, pine cones, light snow, soft lights. I wanted something very natural and light. My biggest fear was looking like a clown on my wedding day.”

REFeyeANCE Makeup & Hair did Miranda’s beautiful makeup. “I didn’t have a specific color I wanted my eyes and lips to be, which is what made my makeup artist so great. The only direction I gave her was “natural and light” and it turned out better then I could have imagined! I never wear a lot of makeup, let alone false lashes and I felt like a winter princess. Another reason they were amazing….they did both hair AND makeup! They were so collaborative, all of my bridesmaids had their own style. REFeyeANCE blended their styles with my wedding vision. It was perfect!”

Looking back through her wedding photos, Miranda loved how natural her makeup look and didn’t look like she had pounds of makeup on her face. She said, “I actually looked like myself (but better lol)!”

Mariana- Mauve wedding makeup look

I knew from the beginning how I wanted my makeup to be. I wanted a touch of a retro look with expressive eyes and nude lips. A look that would empower me as a bride and at the same time wouldn’t change me to the point people wouldn’t recognize me. A production that would work for the day (ceremony) but also for the night (dance floor). This would give me an expressive eye and a lip that matched the mauve tones of the wedding.

Mariana was super impressed by her airbrushing, “ …by the end of the night my makeup was still flawless. Airbrush is a miracle in the life of any bride! I wish I could wake up like the day of my wedding every day”!

Emily’s Warm Fall Color Wedding Look

“My inspiration was definitely going for a more natural look. It is unlike me to wear a ton of makeup! and I loved the warm fall colors that we used (lots of plum and grey tones). My eye color was more Smokey and my lip color was a light pink just for a pop of color! I think I liked my eyes the most because of how much they popped”.

Grace’s Warm Wedding Look

Grace, and her husband Pran, had a beautiful Indian fusion wedding, so we definitely wanted her input on her makeup look for her big day!

In the planning process, I originally looked through Pinterest and Instagram to find inspiration from Indian-American fusion weddings, but most styles looked like one or the other, and I don’t wear much makeup anymore, so I needed to create my own middle ground of styles. Pran and I lived in the Short North very close to Mukha Spa and knew they provided airbrush makeup (which is what I preferred, since we were having such a long day!). I didn’t want to have to worry about making touchups throughout the day, and I knew that supporting local business was a priority as well.”

Grace also tells us what she was imagining for her makeup look. “Going into the trial, I knew I wanted a warm glow that complemented the gold Indian jewelry I was wearing but also wanted something that wouldn’t be overpowering to my small face. Because we did traditional Indian wear for the ceremony, and then traditional American wear for the evening reception, I wanted something that wouldn’t overpower the heavily detailed lehenga but also would stand out against my white dress. I originally requested for a smoky eye with a lip that was close to my original color (I didn’t want to kiss my man and have him wearing lipstick as well!). Mukha customizes your gloss color for you that you can keep and to take home, which I thought was so cool! After looking at photos of the trial, I knew that it was a bit too light, so then requested the day-of to be more similar to Old Hollywood Glam.”

She decided to go with Mukha Spa to do her makeup for the big day! We asked Grace what she thought of their work and why they were so amazing! She told us, “Mukha Spa was perfect! The artist (Sierra) who did my makeup at the trial and day-of is the niece of the owner, and the shop has been in business for over 20 years, so I knew that I was going to be taken care of. Their makeup is all made in-house, so I felt comfortable that they knew their ingredients were safe for sensitive skin. They arrived early the morning of and helped to walk my bridesmaids through the process of airbrush since they had never had it before. My artist brought an extra person so they were able to complete everyone’s look in 30 minutes or less (depending on what my girls requested). Every bridesmaid also was given a pair of false lashes, which looked phenomenal on them! Everyone felt comfortable and relaxed, as well as loved their final looks.”

She said looking back at her wedding day photos, reminded her how relaxed she was and how smooth the day ran. She told us that she looked in the mirror and couldn’t believe that it was her and how beautiful she felt! Her makeup lasted the whole entire day and she knew that she made the right choice.
